There’s a term in the SEO world called domain authority (DA).

It’s also sometimes referred as  Domain Ranking (DR) they all mean the same thing.

They’re essentially an indicator of how authoritative a website is in Google’s eyes.

So domain authority or domain ranking, the term can switch depending on what tools people use, it essentially means how authoritative a site is in Google’s eyes, and clearly no one has access to Google’s algorithm so it is just an estimate.

The number shown is from zero to 100, so a website like the ABC has a domain authority in the 90s so very close to 100.

A new website you launched today has a domain authority of zero.

So, getting Google to notice you, is generally a challenge of creating the right content, a big factor is also about getting that domain authority and driving that.

How you get that domain authority is quite simple. you get sites that Google already trusts to trust you. So just to repeat that, how do you get your domain authority up, you get Google so websites that Google already trusts to trust you. So the question is how do you get them to trust you, simply by getting them to link to to your website. So, like Gary’s example, he’s crazy, an epic piece of content, I can’t remember the title but along the lines of social media, how much time do people spend on social media. And then as other websites have doing their research they’ve come across that article, And they’ve gone wow this is so good, so when I write my version. I’m going to refer to this as a reference point. And what that references, it’s a link that website is linking to Gary’s website, and going, yeah I really like this article, and the more links you get the more websites you get to talk about you, the higher your domain authority goes, it’s like PR, PR is a good strategy. You have your PR publicist, promoting your brand, your product or service, and they get use they secure you a spot in let’s say, Glamour magazine. And within that website, there is an article that talks about you and links to suddenly that’s also benefiting your domain authority.

 

So, my, my kind of like counter tip to Gary’s, and you know this is a friendly, friendly conversation is rather than publishing content and this is basically what I do whenever I launch my own brands, rather than publishing content first. What I tend to do, especially if resources are tight like if you’re a solo business plan you’re running your business and you don’t have time to create loads of content. What I would rather do upfront is drive that domain authority up. I want a guest post on other websites I want to write for other websites I want to get featured on other websites, I want to do podcasts because they link back to your website, only get as many websites talking about me, because on my website, because my domain authority starts to go up. And in a few months time, when that da or that Dr. The domain authority is is higher than zero, my articles my content is going to have a better chance of ranking on day one or day seven. So that’s, that’s my tip is to prioritize da for a brand new website, and then go into Gary’s strategy that’s, that was my thanks.
